Vita - La Dolce Vita [Unreleased, 2003]

Partial collection of songs taken from former Murda Inc. signee Vita’s shelved debut album “La Dolce Vita” (2003). The album was preceded by the 2000 buzz single “Vita, Vita, Vita”, featuring guest vocals by Ja Rule, Caddillac Tah and Black Child. While the song surged in popularity among the streets of the east coast, its success failed to spill over commercially in impacting Billboard charts nationwide – thus, resulting in multiple postponements for the album.

By 2001, a follow-up single featuring newcomer Ashanti was released in conjunction to promote the original motion picture soundtrack to action flick “Fast and Furious” (2001), starring Ja Rule, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. Its B-side “Pop-Pop-Pop” was additionally released that same year strictly via promotional vinyl use only.

From 2002 until 2003, a fraction of the album’s recording sessions began to circulate on mixtapes and rare, limitedly released white label vinyls. By ’03, Vita parted ways with The Inc. and her album was shelved.

It would later be revealed that much like the case of fellow labelmate Charli Baltimore and her pending LP’s release, Vita’s “La Dolce Vita” got the cancellation axe due to The Inc. CEO Irv Gotti overspending his label’s funding on illicit substances causing a majority of the Murda Inc. crew’s releases to be shelved or postponed.
